Music Career of Country Music Artist & American Idol Fame - Kellie Pickler
Kellie Pickler is one of the finest young country singers. Kellie did not have any formal training in singing and has come a long way on the American country music scene via the widely popular "American Idol" contest.
Kellie Pickler who was born on June 28th, 1986 grew up into a beautiful teenager. While pursuing her school studies at North Stanly High School in New London, North Carolina, the teenage beauty Kellie Pickler contested and won the 'Miss Stanly County' pageant in 2003. The following year, Kellie contested for Miss North Carolina pageant. Kellie Pickler later participated in WSOC-TV's "Gimme the Mike! Charlotte" contest in 2005 and secured second place.
Unmindful of her future stardom on the American music circuit via "American Idol", Kellie Pickler auditioned for a spot on the Fox series fifth season of "American Idol" in the fall of 2005 in Greensboro, North Carolina. She sang two songs 'Since U Been Gone' by Kelly Clarkson and 'A Broken Wing' by Martina McBride. The two songs worked wonders for her and the judges happy over her performance packed her off to Hollywood. Kellie Pickler slowly advanced on the show in the process refining and honing up her singing talents. Kellie Pickler was halted in the tracks when exited from the "American Idol" as she was voted out on April 26th, 2006 with five more participants left.
Kellie Pickler then returned to her native place Albemarle to a rousing reception, as the mayor of Albemarle presented Kellie a key to the city. She was also honored by the local and state governments and received several awards.
Three months later Kellie Pickler was signed to a recording deal with BNA Records on July 17th, 2006. Kellie Pickler released her debut album "Small Town Girl" on October 30th, 2006. The album peaked at #9 on Billboard Top 200; and further topped Billboard's Top Country Albums. The debut album "Small Town Girl" sold an over seventy nine thousand copies in its first week of release.
The album "Small Town Girl" has eleven songs on it: 'Red High Heels', I Wonder', 'Things That Never Cross a Man's Mind', 'Don't You Know You're Beautiful', 'I Wonder', 'Small Town Girl', 'Wild Ponies', 'Girls Like Me', 'I'm On My Way', 'One Of The Guys' and 'My Angel'. The songs were co-written by Kellie Picker in tow with songwriters, Chris Lindsey, Aimee Mayo, and Karyn Rochelle.
The song 'Red High Heels' reached #1 spot on the GAC Top 20 Countdown on February 9th 2007. 'Red High Heels' earned her a nomination for "Country Music Television Awards" in 2007. The song 'Red High Heels' fetched Kellie Pickler, the songwriter award at the ASCAP Awards in Nashville in October of 2006.
The second number, 'I Wonder', fetched Kellie Pickler three awards from "Country Music Television" Awards" in 2008. The song 'I Wonder' reflects her personal feelings about her mother Cynthia Morton, who left her to the mercy of her drug-addicted father, Clyde Pickler Jr when she was two years old.
Kellie Pickler became the best selling solo country artist of the year in 2006. Kellie Pickler received 'Top New Female Vocalist Of The Year' nomination at the "Academy of Country Music Awards" for two years consecutively in 2007 and 2008. She also received 'Horizon Award' nomination from "Country Music Association Awards" in 2007.
Kellie Pickler's second album, a self-titled "Kellie Pickler" is due for release on 30th September of 2008.
