Kellie Pickler born as Kellie Dawn Pickler on June 28th, 1986 in Albemarle, North Carolina is a beautiful American country music artist. Kellie Pickler is best known as an American Idol contestant who finished sixth in the fifth season of the Fox series "American Idol".
Kellie Pickler was born to Cynthia Morton and Clyde Pickler Jr at Stanly Memorial Hospital in Albemarle. Kellie Pickler was raised by her paternal grandparents. To this day Kellie idolizes her grandparents as the most influential people in her life. When asked on the American Idol show, 'who her heroes in life are'. Swiftly she replied, 'Grandma and Grandpa'. When further questioned 'who is her American Idol'. Long before the question ended, Kellie shot back 'Grandma'. Kellie's grandmother is Faye Pickler and her grandfather Clyde Pickler Sr is an electrician.
Kellie was devastated when her grandmother Faye Pickler passed away and she continued to live with her grandfather until she won a spot on Fox series "American Idol". Kellie Pickler graduated from North Stanly High School in New London, North Carolina in 2004. Kellie was a cheerleader and a dancer in her school. While still in school, Kellie Pickler contested and won the 'Miss Stanly County' pageant in 2003. The following year, Kellie Pickler contested for 2004 Miss North Carolina pageant.
Kellie Pickler participated in WSOC-TV's 'Gimme the Mike! Charlotte' contest in 2005 and finished second place. Next Kellie Pickler auditioned for American Idol in the autumn of 2005 in Greensboro, North Carolina. She sang two songs, Kelly Clarkson's 'Since U Been Gone' and Martina McBride's 'A Broken Wing' which gave her a ticket to stardom. The judges selected her and sent her to Hollywood. Kellie Pickler showcasing her brilliant singing talents has reached upto the sixth place and finally voted out on April 26th, 2006.
Soon after, Kellie returned to Albemarle, North Carolina to a magnificent reception. The mayor of Albemarle declared the day as 'Kellie Pickler Day'. Kellie also received several awards from the local and state governments for her achievements on American Idol show.
Kellie Pickler signed a recording deal with BNA Records on July 17th, 2006. She released her debut album on October 31st, 2006. The album topped Billboard's Top Country Albums peaking at #9 on Billboard Top 200. The album sold over 79,000 copies in its first week and Kellie Pickler became the best selling artist of 2006. Kellie Pickler was nominated for 'Top New Female Vocalist' for the 42nd Academy of Country Music Awards. Kellie Pickler's second album, a self-titled "Kellie Pickler" is going to be released on September 30th, 2008.
